Google+ invites used to be extremely rare, and even Google themselves pulled the plug on the invite system a couple times, claiming that they were overwhelmed with people wanting to join the new social network.

I remember anxiously awaiting myself, and quickly joining to see what it was all about once my boss sent me an invite. Fortunately, any Google+ user can invite some of their friends, but it’s about to get even easier.

After Google has stated time and time again how secure its Chrome operating system was, we’ve just got wind that the operating system has been hacked. Now, before you start freakin’ out, don’t worry, it wasn’t some 14 year old.

The hackers were actually two researchers from the Black Hat security conference with White Hat security and they got through the ScratchPad- a Chrome application that lets you compose text files and save them to Google Docs.

iOS and Android are the two largest mobile operating systems today, and while Apple has paid over $2.5 billion dollars to its developers, we wonder what exactly is happening over at Google’s end.

According to a report by The Register, Android developers receipts aren’t matching the actual number that they are selling and are only getting paid for half of their applications.

Our tech giants Google and Microsoft has taken the patent war to next level and Twitter is the new war zone. Recently, Microsoft, along with Apple and Oracle collectively bought some 6,000 patents from Nortel inc.

In the mean time, Google bought around 1,000 patents from IBM. Microsoft, Apple and Oracle in a group known as CPTN paid $3.5 billion more than the predicted price for buying the patents.

The new Nexus Prime phone is touted to not only run on the new Android Ice Cream Sandwich, but will also be fueled by a Texas Instruments OMAP 4 processor. Whether this will be the new standard for Ice Cream Sandwich remains a mystery, but it leaves some people guessing.

Another possibility, is that we are overanalyzing Google’s ties with Texas Instruments, and that an Nvidia Tegra 3 processor will suit it fine. If Ice Cream is to Gingerbread what Gingerbread is to Froyo, there won’t really be a need for a killer processor.

With surveys declaring IE users dumb and of low IQ, Chrome is definitely making news as the fastest and lightest web browser ever made. I don’t doubt Chrome’s speed and portability; however, calling IE users “low IQ” is a little rude. Isn’t it?

Apart from these stories what we are talking about is search giant Google’s newer version of their self proclaimed world’s fastest browser, Google Chrome.

Looks like to many social networking websites, iPad is a thing they sure have to adapt to. With a brand name like Apple, it’s no wonder they get all the street cred.

Although there had been applications for using both Twitter and Facebook on the iPad, neither of these social networking behemoths were satisfied with their performance. Therefore, Facebook started Project Spartan, an effort to develop a separate HTML5 based Facebook page for the iPad.

The OS war between different mobile operating system vendors is not new. Apple, Google, Microsoft, Nokia, RIM are some of the major contenders.

However, a study that was conducted recently states that Google dominates this pool of contenders with its Android OS. A research firm named Canalys recently carried out this survey which indicated that almost half of the world’s smartphones run Android while there is a major gap between iOS and Android. About 48 percent of the OS market belongs to Android while mere 19 percent is owned by iOS.

Suing rival tech companies has now become child’s play for big IT companies. Consequently every company is trying to decorate its portfolio with as many patents as it can by buying patents from different companies.

Google, which had recently been sued by Oracle for Java patent infringement in development of Android has also decided to take some precautionary measures.

In June 2011, many Gmail accounts were compromised by hackers. Passwords of many US officials, political activists and officials in different countries were stolen.

Ever since then, Google had been working on it’s Two Step Authentication method. This method has enhanced the security of Google account holders. This method requires password based authentication along with a verification code which is sent to the user either through voice, call/text or is generated on the user’s smartphone device via a Google app from which one is accessing his/her account.
