Rugged Mini, Hard Drive Resistible To 1 Ton Load!

LaCie has divulged its up to the minute hard disk drive storage solution this week. The hard drive is known as Rugged Mini. It features a USB 3.0 drive and has storage capacities of 500GB, 1TB and 1.5Tb.

The exceptional design of Rugged Mini protects your data and the hard drive itself from plummets and wallops

Samsung Series 3, A 12″ Powerhouse Laptop

The Samsung Series 3 is the perfect 12.1″ laptop for those looking for a little more power than the traditional netbook. Carrying an Intel Core i5-2410M processor, 4GB of DDR3 memory, and a 500GB hard drive, this machine is no lightweight.

These days, people want a laptop that is small enough to take with them on the go, while powerful enough to act as a desktop replacement when they need one. Since 15.6″ laptops are a bit too big to carry around with you all day, 12″ computers offer a sound alternative.

Toshiba Qosmio 3D Gaming Laptop

These days, you’ll find some people who want to experience the joys of 3D viewing without wearing silly looking glasses. Toshiba has outed an interesting solution to meet your demands with its Qosmio F750 laptop.

Featuring the latest processing chips from Intel, a Core i7 processor and an Nvidia GeForce GT 540M graphics card, you can be sure to get in some 3D first-person-shooter gaming on this machine as well.

Go Full Speed With Corsair Force GT SSD

While 2.5″ hard disk drives are certainly small, they aren’t always the fastest out of the bunch. If you’re looking for real speed and increased data dependability, you might want to look into solid state drives. The new Corsair Force GT is a SATA III drive that offers 550Mbps read and 5xx write speeds.

It even comes in an unusual red coating, which makes it stand out in comparison to similar drives. Although fast, the drives do not come cheap as solid-state technology remains to be ‘the latest & greatest’ in storage media.

External HDD: MiniStation Plus With USB 3.0

If you’re looking for a lightning fast portable hard drive, the MiniStation Plus may be just for you. The Buffalo MiniStation is a new USB 3.0 external hard drive that is not much larger than a deck of cards.

The hard drive is enclosed in a shockproof chassis and is available in two capacities and three colors. Most people don’t need too much storage space, in which case the 500GB model was designed just for you and is priced at $85.

LaCie Teams Up With Porsche To Deliver Awesome HDDs

Not long after we covered the LaCie cloudblox, it looks like LaCie has teamed up with Porsche with the awesome new Porsche-designed hard drives.

The mobile hard drive is dubbed the P9220 and the desktop version, the P9230. Each model will of course have the ultra fast USB 3.0 interface, and has looks so sharp, even Apple will have a run for its money.

New Cloudbox From Lacie Keeps Your Data Safe

LaCie now has a new cloud storage system called the CloudBox that is essentially a hard drive that backs up your files both locally and wireless to a cloud-based platform. When it comes to data protection, you’re always going to want to have a backup in case there are technical difficulties over the cloud (on the web).

For $200 a year, users will get 100GB of cloud data storage. The device itself costs $200 and the first year of storage is free. Users can then opt to either renew the contract or drop the cloud service.

New CAM Storage Is Much Faster Than Any SSD

Before solid-state drives came around, data storage on PCs happened at a relatively slow pace using traditional hard disk drives which utilize a spinning disk between 3,800 RPM (less common) to 7,200 RPM (more common). Although solid state technology is faster and more reliable than hard drives, it’s still nothing compared to the speed of RAM (Random Access Memory).

With this in mind, NEC developed a new Content Addressable Memory (CAM) system that stores data without using any power. The new CAM modules are as fast as RAM modules, making it a top contender for future technology around the globe.

Samsung Rolls Out Dual-Platter 1TB HDD

Samsung has recently introduced a new 1TB hard drive in a 2.5″ form-factor. Now, there are already quite a few of these capacity hard drives in a similar form factor, but Samsung is the first to do it a 9mm, as opposed to the usual 12.5mm design.

The extra-thin hard drive platters allow for a more efficient two platter design instead of 3, allowing Samsung to do more with less space. If the computer manufacturer decided to go with a larger hard drive, it could have enabled a much larger capacity on the drive.

LG’s Awesome New N2C Hard Drive

LG’s new 2 terabyte NAS, the N2C, supports an external ODD (Optical Disc Drive), letting users access CD/DVD or Blu-ray videos directly from the network, and allows users to share content to any number of connected devices.

The N2C also comes with a peer2peer program, iTunes Server, DLNA and special software that gives users remote access to all data from any PC or mobile phone. Users will also be able to use it as a remote security device giving access to live video taken from any USB Web cam.
