Facebook Pictures Can Lure You Into A Botnet

For those of you who are related to IT in one way or another, ‘Botnet’ shouldn’t be a new term. However, for those who are unaware, a botnet is a system of computers which are compromised by malware and each individual computer is called a Bot.

A botnet is a very complex method of hacking which may be used to steal your private information without you even knowing it. Researchers from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology in New Delhi, India have designed Stegobot, a new type of Botnet system which pulls out secret information via social networks by attaching to user profiles.

Toshiba Beats Apple’s Retina Display, By Miles

Okay, so Apple Shmapple, you’ve heard all the talks about iPhone’s technology and why you should get it. One of the iPhone’s coolest features, at least in my opinion, is its retina display. Although I am a bit of a pixel fanatic, it’s time to look our eyes away from Apple and towards technology of the future. Samsung introduced a highly dense pixel resolution just last week, and Toshiba is keeping up the paces.

Toshiba has just come forth with a new four inch display that will be used in smartphones. The 4-inch screen will feature a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, allowing it to display HD video in 720p.

Over 5K Sites Compromised On Google’s Image Search

If you are using Google’s image search, for any reason, you may want to stop, immediately. Security experts have found thousands of sites compromised by code injection (malicious code that redirects users to fake antivirus applications). In fact, I’ve also been a victim of the Google image malware in the past and had to get a brand new hard drive because a reformatting did not work. What was I searching for? Simple tech stuff like laptops and cellphones. You’d be surprised how many types of images are compromised, but you can bet the most popular searches are the worst.
