Google will provide Kansas City residents with internet access speeds that are 100 times faster than what most Americans currently have, by means of fiber optic connections. However, Google’s intents consist of more than than just faster internet for the sake of it; they will work closely with local organizations to make an impact on the community.
Why Kansas City? Google had a competition last year, in which cities competed against each other for the super-fast internet infrastructure. Google’s desire for connection to a community weighed heavily in their choice, and they believe Kansas City offers the best environment to make that happen. Other cities need not fret, Google says in their release that they are looking to bring ultra-high speed internet to other cities very soon
