ISP, Virgin Media, Warns Customers Of SpyEye Trojan

The ISP (Internet Service Provider), Virgin Media has warned over 1,500 of its customers that their PCs have been infected with a malicious virus that steals bank login information. The trojan is called the SpyEye trojan and is well known for its destruction.

Virgin claims that they have not been monitoring their users’ activity but instead received a tip-off from UK police and later discovered infections while researching criminal botnets. A botnet is a group of infected computers that work in conjunction to continue distributing malware across the web.

ARRIS Unveils 4.5Gbps Cable Technology

The company, ARRIS is seeking to bring faster Internet connection speeds to homes around the world with its new 4.5Gbps cable technology. The new technology will overtake current fiber optic networks with its intense speed.

As of now, the new technology remains a proof-of-concept test, meaning this won’t make economic sense on a large scale, but it is a step towards the next level of the Internet. Also, as technologies are introduced into the market, companies utilize the new research and improve it, allowing for a good probability of having affordable 4.5Gbps speed in the future.

40% Of All Xbox360 Activity Is Non-Gaming

According to Microsoft’s blog, about 40% of all Xbox 360 activity is non-gaming. So what are people using their Xbox machines for? Video streaming. Whether it’s the Netflix application, ESPN streaming, or Hulu, people get the majority of their Xbox360 fix through non-gaming activities.

While Microsoft seems to think this is cool, I wonder what these statistics say about the game console? Is it that modern Xbox games are boring or are they just too expensive for consumer needs right now?
