Foxconn Will Replace Workers With 1 Million Robots

Foxconn is a Chinese based company and the biggest manufacturer of products of some notable companies such as Nokia, Apple and Sony. Foxconn recently got ripped from an iPad 3 manufacturing contract. Moreover the company had been suffering with some serious problems concerning mostly the labor.

The serious problems with labor were suicides of some of the workers because of low wages, protests against the company and an explosion in the factory. Consequently, Foxcon has now decided to replace manual labor with automated machine robots.

Apple’s iOS 4.3.4 Fixes PDF Bug, Blocks Jailbreaking

Apple has just released a software update for iOS phones and tablets that fixes a serious vulnerability in the operating system in regards to the way PDF files handled fonts. The vulnerability included the potential of a malicious PDF file to sneak malware into the device.

Of course, before you hurry to update your iOS gadget, do note that the refresh also prevents hacking and jailbreaking. So, it’s kind of a double edged sword, and if jailbreaking means anything to you, you’ll stay away from this update and quit using PDFs all together.

Apple To Debut ‘HD+’ 1080p iTunes Movie Services Later This Year?

AppleInsider reports that Apple may be preparing to begin supporting 1080p movies in its iTunes Store later this year, based on reports of film studios submitting films to Apple in a new “HD+” format at the higher resolution.

Apple has resisted 1080p for its iTunes videos and even the current version of Apple TV because the company claims it will slow down streaming speeds, which could degrade your viewing experience more than the extra resolution could improve it.

Apple Loses Playlist Patent Suit, Must Pay $8M

A federal judge has ordered Apple to pay a huge fine for infringement of two patents of Personal Audio, related to the creation and use of iPod playlist.

Personal Audio sued Apple for patent infringement in 2009 asking for compensation of $84M.The two patents were the “U.S. patents 6,199,076: Audio Player Program Including a Dynamic Controller Selection Program” and “7,509,178: Audio Program Distribution and Playback System”.

iPhone 5 Leaked In China ?

With evidence mounting that the iPhone 5 is coming in the fall, here is some more fuel for the fire.

A new Chinese case design has been found on Alibaba.com, which is a business-to-business trading site for Chinese manufacturers and suppliers, claiming to be for the iPhone 5G. It is worth taking a look at as Chinese manufacturers often get design specs before the official launch.

PDFs Pose Threat In iOS Devices

It recently came to light that a security hole in iOS means users could potentially find their iDevices infected with malware if they open dodgy attachments.

Users are particularly vulnerable when they view Portable Document Format, or PDF, files, which give attackers an opportunity to infect the devices with malicious software, giving them administrative rights to the device.

The study conducted by miratech included the testing of a representative sample of 20 users in their user testing labs.All of the users were familiar with the iPad.They were required to browse through five well known French websites which had their own iPad apps.

Okay, so I am sure I am not the only one who was annoyed when LulzSec & Co. hacked all the major gaming networks and companies. Well, finally there is a leak that sparked some curiosity. Apple Feels Harassed By Samsung

Just days after Nokia was declared the victor in a lawsuit that Apple started, claiming that Nokia had infringed on some of its patents, Apple is still in a dead heat with Samsung. In this lawsuit, Apple is accusing Samsung of harassment in its request to see the iPhone 5 and iPad 3 prototypes.

Apple believes that Samsung is just trying to get them back for when Apple demanded to see Samsung’s products (upcoming Galaxy) for investigation. Apple further claims that it will not reveal its prototypes as these are key company secrets that cannot risk being leaked, or even copied.
