Microsoft Releases Its Own Tablet – Calls It Surface

After much speculation, Microsoft’s unveiled a Surface tablet today at a press event. There will be two options for Microsoft’s Surface PC, one powered by Intel’s 22nm Ivy Bridge chips running Windows 8, and another Surface powered by an ARM chipset and Windows RT.

New Macbook Airs Coming Soon!

According to a reliable leak, Apple is gearing up to launch updates across its Macbook Air lineup and sources say that the leak is 100% confirmed. This would be a timely update considering the last refresh was way back in December 2010.

The first batch of many will be around 400,000 units, and the most notable change of the new notebook will be Intel’s 32nm Sandy Bridge architecture. The Intel chips will utilize the ultra low voltage Core i5 and Core i7 chips, which feature between 3MB and 4MB of Smart Cache.

Texas Instruments Introduces OMAP4470, Not a Robot

Texas Instruments has just announced another member of the OMAP 4 family, and it’s a boy! Meet the OMAP4470, a 1.8GHz ARM processor. The new chip is powered by two 1GHz ARM Cortex A-9 MPCore engines, and two 266MHz ARM Cortex-M3 cores.

Texas Instruments believes that the multi-core structure will allow for faster web browsing and more efficient power usage. The goal is to compete with Nvidia’s quad core chips and Intel’s latest Sandy Bridge line. While some may think this goal is a bit far fetched, you have to commend Texas Instruments for having such a goal!
