Oracle Sues Google Over Java Copyrights & Patents

In the tech industry, suing rival companies is not a big deal so its no surprise that Oracle sued Google.

The bone of contention is Google’s US$100 million deal with Sun Microsystems to pay the royalties for using Sun Microsystems’ programming language java for building the, then-new operating system, Android.

The deal has invoked a copyright infringement case against the search giant Google. However, Google has denied the allegations put forth by Oracle.

Chrome OS; Superior To Windows 7?

Google co-founder Sergey Brin made some interesting points at the Google I/O conference. Brin states some reasons on why he and co-founder Larry Page decided to create an operating system. Brin claims that Windows is “too much of a hassle to use” and maintain, offering the company’s new Chrome operating system as a solution to consumers’ problems. Page went further to say “this is a joint effort so it’s important that we all get behind it.” He said that employees that are not directly involved in social media will still have their bonuses determined by the same standard of those who are. Page wants all Googlers to push out their social media products to “friends and family.”

Google to Replace Eric Schmidt with Larry Page as CEO

Google just announced some management changes and it will replace Eric Schmidt with Larry Page. Starting from April 4, Larry Page, Google Co-Founder, will take charge of Google’s day-to-day operations as Chief Executive Officer. Sergey Brin, Google Co-Founder, will devote his energy to strategic projects, in particular working on new products. Eric Schmidt will assume the role of Executive Chairman, focusing externally on deals, partnerships, customers and broader business relationships, government outreach and technology thought leadership–all of which are increasingly important given Google’s global reach. Internally, he will continue to act as an advisor to Larry and Sergey.
