Electromagnetic Sheet Powers Up And Networks Devices

The National Institute of Information and Communications Technology showed an efficient wireless power transmission system, demonstrated at the Wireless Japan 2011 conference. The system works as a 2D communications device and requires the user to place a gadget on the flat board.

The board then generates electromagnetic waves towards the gadget, rather than having an even distribution throughout the board. The underlying concept behind the system uses a 2.4GHz high frequency signal to capture the electromagnetic waves where the gadget is placed.

Facebook CEO To Hold Obama’s 2012 Meeting

President Barack Obama has announced on Facebook that he will be holding a Town Hall meeting with Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg and COO Sheryl Sandberg at Facebook headquarters in Palo Alto this month. The big event will happen on April 20th at 1:45pm PST. Users can participate by submitting questions about innovation and the economy through the Facebook Event wall. Facebook will select the top ones that will be addressed during the meeting.

The Hackathon Marathons

A series of events is taking over how startups are conceived, formed and funded. Social meetups are converting ideas into money making companies with votes. Hackathons as they are known, are productive and collaborative events that are becoming the source for many cool innovations we’re currently seeing.

Essentially these events are intense meetups that are anywhere between 1-4 days long and become a medium for exchanging knowledge. They create opportunities for some to learn about what’s hot in the tech space, while at the same time allow developers to perform under extreme pressures.
