Google Will Merge Hangouts, Talk & Messenger

Google has been working on unifying various real-time messaging applications across all devices, and the result are likely to be a unified messenger that allows anyone to do one-on-one chats as well as group video Hangouts.

According to Google Product Manager Nikhyl Singhal, Google has “done an incredibly poor job servicing our users here.” Singhal said that Google doesn’t have anything to announce, but that the company is definitely working on unifying all messaging experiences in the near future.

Blackberry Messenger 6 (BBM6) Launched By RIM

Blackberry has always been an attraction for the crowd. People intend to purchase Blackberry phones because of the brand name, reputation and the numerous services that it provides to it’s customers.

Recently RIM has announced to launch a new messenger for Blackberry known as Blackberry Messenger 6 aka BBM6. This special messenger would help Blackberry users to stay in touch with their social network more easily.

OS X Lion Features “Find My Mac”

While the Apple Worldwide Developer Conference is only a month away, we are learning more about what might constitute the new OS X Lion. According to 9to5Mac, the new OS will feature a “Find my Mac” tool that works very similar to the “Find my iPhone”, exclusively for MobileMe. There will also be Find My Mac messenger, and we have no idea what this could be.

Some speculate that it is a way for Mac’s Finder to instant message the Mac owner, but we’re not too sure how it works or how effective the applicaiton will be.

Get Google Talk 1.3 For Your Android Phone

According to XDAdevelopers, Google Talk 1.3 has surfaced along with the new Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread operating system. With the new Google Talk, Google has also a new Gmail IM that supports video calling! Now, we’re talking! It feels like Android is getting one step closer to the iPhone each and every time, while avoiding trips to the Apple Store to get the unit fixed.

Sent Message To The Wrong Person? Click ‘Undo Send’

Have you ever sent an e-mail or a text message to the wrong person? I know I’ve made the mistake a number of times. Although you’re still on your own when it comes to texting blunders, Google has created a feature called “Undo Send” that gives you a five second window to retract an e-mail you had just sent. You can enable or disable the feature under Gmail’s settings/labs within your Gmail account.

Obviously you should still be proofreading your emails before sending them out and making sure they are heading to the right person, but “undo send” is a great way of utilizing those “ah, shoot” moments right after you send something. I’m guessing Google employees have a number of those moments;

Google Joins The Group Messaging App Party With “Disco”

Group messaging is apparently big business and now we have another app joining the party!!

First Facebook announced it acquired Beluga and now Google releases a group messaging app called “Disco”. The app, as you would imagine, allows users to send text messages to groups of people from their contacts and members of the group can reply to everyone. Simple concept using text messaging.
