Windows 8 To Support Xbox 360 Games ?

A number of sites are reporting that the Xbox 360 games could be playable on the next Windows operating system, Windows 8. While not yet confirmed, it could have many implications if true. Apparently the only thing PC users will have to do is have Windows 8 and pop the Xbox 360 game into their DVD drive and that is it.

However, your PC will still need to be powerful enough to run the games. In addition, if you want to play these games online, PC players will have to buy access into an Xbox Live feature like Xbox 360 users have to.

Microsoft Retires Office XP And Vista SP1

Well, wadya know. Microsoft is finally going to retire it’s 2001 Office XP and first service pack for Windows Vista next week, according to the company’s own calendar. Both platforms will end on July 12th, and will no longer have updates supporting the antiquated software.

Since Microsoft supports its business products for ten years, this change shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to anyone. Vista users will still be able to get security updates by upgrading to service pack 2, that is, if they are still using SP1.

Bing Begins 24 Hour IPv6 Testing

IPv6 (Internet Protocol Version 6) will be available this evening at 5PM, Pacific Standard Time and will end tomorrow, June 8th at the same time. This 24 hour duration will allow for world-wide IPv6 connectivity to www.bing.com. For those who already have IPv6, connectivity will be automatic, requiring no special system tweaking or tuning to access the Bing site. All Windows 7 PCs already have an IPv6 configuration.

IPv4 traffic will remain intact to Bing, without causing any slowdown in connection to the well known search engine.
