Apple’s iOS More Secure Than Google’s Android OS

iOS, Apple’s mobile operating system that powers the company’s iPhone and iPad, has more protection than its rival Android, security experts at Symantec recently reported.

This week, the security company Symantec published “A Window Into Mobile Device Security,” a 23-page publication that details Apple and Google’s security approaches in their mobile operating systems. The publication also features a close look at possible security holes that are found in the Android and iOS platforms.

Facebook Plans “Awesome” Launch Next Week: Zuckerberg

EO and founder Mark Zuckerberg told reporters in a visit to Facebook’s Seattle office on Wednesday that the company planned to “launch something awesome” next week.

He said the project had been developed at the 40-person Seattle office, Facebook’s only major engineering center outside of its Palo Alto, California headquarters.

Nokia’s Messaging Business Goes To UK’s Synchronica

The UK-based mobile messaging company Synchronica has inked a deal to take over Nokia’s operator-branded messaging business in a deal worth about $25 million—including a scant $4 million up front and warrants for some 18.3 million common shares in Synchronica.

Synchronica plans to continue to operate and support Nokia’s messaging system, so existing partners and customers shouldn’t’ see any disruptions.

China Gets Powerful Motorola MT870

Motorola has recently released a new handset for China Mobile, the MT870. The phone is equipped with a 4″ screen that displays a pixel resolution of 540 x 960 pixels and has a powerful Nvidia Tegra 2 processor at 1GHz.

Pair that with 512MB of RAM and you have yourself one powerful camera. There’s also an 8MP camera if the amateur photographer in yourself wants to take a few snapshots. The device captures 720p video and the front-facing camera ensures that you stay connected with the ones that matter most.

How Will The iPhone 5 Compare To The Nexus 4G?

While rumors and speculation still surround Apple’s next generation iPhone handset – the iPhone 4S or the iPhone 5, depending on whom you believe – other cell phone manufacturers continue to develop newer, faster handsets to compete in the marketplace.

Designer Michal Bonikowski believes he knows what the iPhone 5 will look like, similar to the current model, but sleeker with an edge to edge screen. His conceptual version includes a glass face enclosed in an aluminum bumper.

Gamevil Invests $10M To Partner With US Developers

South Korean mobile game developer, Gamevil is aiming to tap into the US market and has today announced that it will invest $10 million in US partnerships with American game developers. The end goal, of course, is for Gamevil to deliver their high quality game titles to popular smartphone operating systems.

With smartphones becoming ever increasing, it’s hard not to know someone without an iPhone, Windows Phone, or Android device. Although a South Korean company, its headquarters are located in Los Angeles, California.

HP Considering Licensing Its webOS

Computer manufacturer Hewlett-Packard is currently speaking with various companies over its webOS mobile operating system. Sources claim that future Samsung tablets may sport the HP mobile OS. The move would give manufacturers such as Samsung a choice other than Windows or Android, giving consumers more options when purchasing a tablet.

It would be a win/win situation, in fact, if the deal went through. HP would be able to reach a larger user base through its webOS and tablet PC makers would be able to grab a larger portion of the market.
