Next Generation Television Watches Your Every Move

Intel demonstrated a focused on camera that recognizes both facial and gesture input at Intel Developer Forum, Beijing 2011. The demo begun by showing an avatar being controlled by having the camera map on the user’s face. This mapping allowed the user to control the avatar’s head movements as well as the facial features, enabling the avatar to laugh, smile, frown, or look confused.

The gesture recognition allows users to control and navigate the user interface with the wave of a hand. This hand waving allows photos to move from right to left, zoom in and out and rotate pictures in clockwise or counterclockwise directions. Two Tech Giants Want Piece Of iPad Pie

Samsung isn’t the only guest at the tablet party. HTC and Huawei are also looking to unseat Apple as the dominant tablet player. HTC unveiled the Flyer, a 7-inch Android 2.4 device sporting a 1.5 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU, 1 GB of RAM, and both a front and rear-facing camera.

Notable features are the Sense UI layer, which has received very favorable reviews, and built-in pen (stylus) support that can be used with its Scribe apps. One of these apps, dubbed “Timemark” allows the synchronization of audio clips with your written notes, pretty handy in an academic setting where students can take advantage of this, and not risk missing out on any part of an important lecture.

Google CEO Eric Schmidt released the new Android Movie Studio app, made especially for tablets running Honeycomb. The app allows users to edit video similar to Apple’s iMovie in which you combine photos and videos to make and publish projects.

One big difference the Android Movie Studio has over Apple’s iMovie, is that currently you can’t get iMovie on the iPad so this is one step ahead of Apple in that regards.
