10 Military Newspapers Taken Down In A Single Hack

We all remember President Obama threatening the public a few months ago. He basically said that he would take any cyber attack against the US government very seriously and may even counter attack with force.

Well, it seems like a hacker may have found a loophole into attacking the US government, that is, by attacking Government Newspaper publications. 10 military newspapers were hacked earlier this month and just yesterday the military had admitted the hacks.

Apple Changes In-App Subscription Pricing

Apple has recently changed its guidelines on the pricing of In-App subscriptions through the App Store, but haven’t publicly commented on the recent change. The new changes include that there are no longer any requirements that a subscription be at the same price or less than it is offered outside an app, meaning that the app store can charge $10 for an app that costs $2 somewhere else.

Furthermore, there is no guideline about price, at all. App Store subscriptions were first introduced this past February, and the introduction of the service had opened the door to a wide range of in-app subscription services such as magazines and newspapers.

Are eReaders Effective Reading Tools?

Have you purchased an iPad or an eReader to be able to do your morning reading without flipping through a bulky newspaper? Well, a February study conducted at Miratech shows that readers are more likely to skim over articles on an iPad than in a newspaper. NY Times 3.0 Allows Full Content Access On iPhone

No More Subscription Needed for Wall Street Journal iPad App

The Wall Street Journal has announced they will offer single issue downloads of its morning edition for $1.99. This will be available through their existing app, which is free. Previously, they only offered bundles and subscriptions, such as the “Now Edition,” which provides regular new updates for $18 a month. The “Digital Bundle” offers full access to WSJ.com and its digital products for about $17 a month.

The option to just get a paper without subscribing will be tested on the iPad first, and then move on to the Android. The single-issue downloads are a way for users to try out the both the content and format of an iPad newspaper, for relativley little cost.

Pay Up!! — The NY Times Wants Your Money

The New York Times launched a new pay model in Canada and expects to implement it in the United States and globally by March 28th. The model? NY Times plans on charging readers for full access to articles on smartphones, tablet computers, and the Internet.
