AMD’s A8 Processor Pushed To 4.9GHz

AMD’s A8 Llano APU (accelerated processing unit) has just been taken to new heights in the overclocking world. A Japanese team of computer enthusiasts tried their hand at overclocking with an AMD A8-3850 processor (defaults at 2.9GHz), a Gigabyte GA-A75-UD4H motherboard, and a cooler that runs on liquid nitrogen.

Of course, hardly any enthusiasts use liquid nitrogen to cool their computer hardware, and we definitely don’t think your processor will last very long running at 5GHz, but it’s always cool to be able to say that you did it.

Intel Replaces Core i7 970, With i7 980

If you own the Intel Core i7 970 processor, you no longer have the latest and greatest in computing technology. Not that it matters much anyways, but Intel has recently unleashed the new Core i7 980 processor.

Now, before you go crazy this isn’t the extreme edition, nor is it unlocked- meaning you won’t be able to push it to the max with any overclocking software. This also means that you won’t have to spring for a heavy cooling system such a water cooled case.

Intel Develops 22nm Haswell CPU For 2013 Launch

Intel is currently working on its 22 nanometer Haswell computer chips that are due to come out in year 2013. Haswell will enjoy the same power-saving technology, known as tri-gate 3D transistor technology that was first developed in accordance with the Ivy Bridge chip.

Intel boasts on its blog that their floating-point multiply significantly increases peak FLOPS (floating operations per second) and provides enhanced precision to improve their mathematics.

Oversee Desktop Performance From Your Phone

Graphics card and motherboard manufacturer, MSI, has coupled with a software programmer named Nick Connors to create a version of the Afterburner overclocking program for the Android operating system. With the awesome new app, users will be able to fine tune their processing settings on and desktop or laptop over a shared WiFi connection.

Of things that can be tweaked and tuned include; frequency, temperature, voltage, and fan speed. In order to get everything set up, the user must first install the appropriate software (Afterburner program) on the host PC before anything can be modified.

4.8GHz Notebook W/ 2GB Video Card

Computer manufacturer Maingear has just launched its newest laptop, the eX-L 17 3D notebook. The machine has an overlcocked 4.8GHz CPU and Nvidia GeForce GTX 485M. 3D enthusiasts will make use of the 3D Vision support and rip through applications with the blazing fast second generation Intel processor, 2.5GHz in its resting state, and 4.8GHz when it’s overclocked to the max.

Consumers will enjoy the built-in 3D emitter, two HDD bays for expansion later down the road, and an integrated ‘Bigfoot Networks Killer Wireless-N.’

Intel’s New Hexa-Core 3.6GHz i7-995X Extreme Edition

We just got word that Intel will be releasing the first of the 32-nanometer Atom processors on August 1st of this year. Coming a little sooner on June 26th is the hexa-core (six core) i7-980. Intel will also release a glitch-free Intel 6-series chipset, the Z68 on May 11th. How was this information obtained? PCMag got a roadmap (a list of products and release dates) that provides us with vital information on the Intel leak.
