Japan Raises Penalty For Distribution Of Viruses

Japan’s parliament has just enacted a legislation that criminalizes the creation or distribution of computer viruses, in attempts to make the Internet a safe place. The Japanese Government seeks to support the Convention of Cybercrime, a treaty that was ratified by 31 countries that proposes international cooperation in investigating crimes in cyberspace.

The new legislation makes the creation or distribution of a computer virus punishable by up to 3 years or 500,000 yen in fines.

Top Secret Military Information Exposed Via Internet Mishap

An “Internet error” is responsible for exposing military secrets to the public. The mishap occurred from an improperly censored military document being leaked onto a Parliament website. The document contained information about UK’s nuclear submarines, which is obviously classified information you would not want to be released.
