BMW-Inspired Headphones? Now That’ll Cost Ya

Have you ever wondered what military-grade headphones are like? Well, we’ve got something a little more stylish than your typical army cans. Audio expert, Sennheiser has teamed up with BMW Designworks USA to bring their S1 Digital general aviation headset.

As it sounds, these headphones were made for pilots to protect their ears during takeoff, and the tech ‘examines’ the cockpit’s recent noise levels to ‘better understand’ how much to eliminate during all phases of flight.

The cans themselves are absolutely gorgeous, and they look so comfortable, you’d wonder if a celebrity would slam down the dough for a pair of these. I’d have to admit though, it’d be funny to see a music producer rocking these.

Alaska Airlines Instruction Manuals Replaced W/ iPads

Alaska Airlines is the first domestic airline to replace pilots’ heavy bags of printed flight reference materials with electronic copies via the iPad device. Alaska Airlines has just finished Winter and Spring trials of the iPad replacement program 100 of its instructor pilots.

The airline ipads will contain a specialized application called GoodReader that is loaded with PDF versions of 41 flight, systems and performance manuals, reference cards, and other materials.

The electronic manuals have hyperlinks and color graphics allowing pilots to find information faster and easier.
