Our tech giants Google and Microsoft has taken the patent war to next level and Twitter is the new war zone. Recently, Microsoft, along with Apple and Oracle collectively bought some 6,000 patents from Nortel inc.

In the mean time, Google bought around 1,000 patents from IBM. Microsoft, Apple and Oracle in a group known as CPTN paid $3.5 billion more than the predicted price for buying the patents.

DEAL: HP TouchPad Is Available For $50 Less

In the current run in the dominating tablet industry, it is really hard to keep up. I reckon HP has realized this fact pretty quickly.

HP recently released its HP touchpad, a tablet computer which featured HP’s WebOS 3.0 operating system. Unfortunately, contrary to what HP had hoped, the device had not been able to garner a lot of success because of its competitors such as the iPad 2 and Motorola Xoom.

Nintendo Takes 40% Off 3DS Price Tag

Nintendo is already going down the success slope because of poor sales of its recently released 3D gaming console, Nintendo 3DS. This has put Nintendo in some serious trouble. In order to manage the company so that it doesn’t become bankrupt, Nintendo is forced to cut the price of its gaming console in two of the major regions of its availability.

Nintendo 3DS was initially sold for 25000 yen in Japan and for $249-99 in US. It seems that in order to cover the manufacturing costs, Nintendo has reduced the price of their console by as much as 40%. The same console which was sold for 25000 yen would now be available for 15000 yen in Japan and for approximately $150 in US.

Forget 75 Inches, 85″ 3D TV On The Way

Just three days after we covered Samsung’s 75-inch 3D TV, it appears that Bang & Olufsen heard the news. The company has just announced an 85-inch BeoVision 4-85 3D television that’s going to start shipping next month. I bet many of you were shocked when we told you that 75″ Samsung was going to set you back $17,600 but guess how much 10 extra inches costs you? The BeoVision 3D TV will retail at $85,000. Talk about sticker shock!

If AT&T Merger Goes Thru: T-Mobile 4G Will Be Demolished

AT&T is playing a clever game of words in efforts to have its T-Mobile acquisition pass the FCC. AT&T is promising that T-Mobile customers will get to keep their low rates and existing phones. Doesn’t that sound great? Well, don’t get too excited yet. AT&T plans on demolishing T-Mobile’s blazing fast 4G coverage and creating their own technology that will be incompatible with current T-Mobile phones *and* plans for that matter.

AT&T is hoping that the FCC will not catch this technicality, to ensure a smooth acquisition of T-Mobile. If the deal does go through, we will have two very large wireless carriers (AT&T and Verizon) and little ol’ Sprint tagging along.
