Microsoft Offers $250K Prize In Hacking Competition

Management at Microsoft are hoping to turn hackers into cyber security for the Digital Media giant. The company is offering hackers $250K to develop new security defenses for the organization.

It’s called the BlueHat Prize and is open to programmers all around the world. First prize is valued at $200,000 and goes to whoever develops the ‘best’ way to prevent cyber attacks. The second and third best strategists will share a $50K prize, and will each be able to develop their own subscription of their software for development.

Google Launches Prizes Site

Last year Google acquired Slide, a company best known for its 3rd-party Facebook apps and photo sharing software. It was also founded by PayPal co-founder Max Levchin. Now it seems Slide is reappearing in a different guise running the new website Prizes.org.

Prizes.org is a social contest website wherein users can create contests for problems that need solutions. They can post some questions or tasks, and the person who can give the best answer will win a cash price.

Twitter Sues Twiter.com For Deception

It’s not unusual to hear about similar-sounding domain names to exist, but Twiter.com is one that, not only sounds similar to the service but offers a similar service, seeking to trick people into giving personal information about themselves.

The faux site doesn’t download any malicious software to the victim’s computer but instead gathers information after users sign up. Also, once the user has signed up, offers are then made for free “prizes” such as iPads and Macbooks, and continue to spam the heck out of whoever signed up.
