Leak: Sony Going Deep With Virtual Reality

Hopefully the days of a silly console controller are over. I’ve said it before, but I am getting tired of playing console games with the dual joy-stick. Sure, it was awesome in 2002, but times are changing and we are living in a world where we want to interact more with our media.

Think about how Google+ has their hangouts, a rich way to communicate with one another via videochat, and how about the new Wii U and the touch-screen controller? The Xbox Kinect? According to a post at DigiTimes, Sony will begin manufacturing the PS4 in late 2011 in order to be ready for a 2012 launch. Further, the PS4 will have full-body motion controls similar to what Microsoft has done with Kinect, and Sony plans to ship at least 20 million units in 2012.

Desperate to revive flagging sales, Sony is believed to have bought the launch date forward in an effort to boost revenues from their Playstation Division as consumers stop buying Sony Bravia TVs.

Sony Is Working On Next PlayStation

Sony has recently announced that it is working on the PlayStation 4. Sony’s Executive Vice President and CFO Masaru Kato spilled the beans on the matter. Kato believes that the current PlayStation 3 still has product life and Sony plans on milking the PS3 for a bit longer as Sony still has a number of hot games available for the console.

As a gamer I have to also admit that most of the top games for any console usually come out a year or two after the console has been released.
