US Supreme Court Rejects Ban On Violent Games

The US Supreme court has recently rejected the 2005 California law that banned the sale or rental of violent video games to anyone under age 18. Now, parents could still purchase these violent games for their children, but any store caught selling the game to a minor could face a fine up to $1,000.

The court ruled against the ban 7-2, in accordance with the free speech rights found in the US constitution. Contrary to some beliefs that violent video games pose a bad influence on young children, the courts upheld that they did not want to filter what children are exposed to and essentially left that duty up to the parents or caretakers of the child.

Dirt 3 is the latest in Codemaster’s long line of rally games that earlier bore Colin McRae’s name.

Events include your usual races, drifting events, head to head races and gymkhana a new addition that requires you to complete a set number of stunts such as smashing blocks and performing spins.

In order to progress to the next season, you need to complete a mandatory final event placing in the top three to continue, quite unlike the open world feel that the Dirt 2 had.

Analysts and commentators immediately said that the device was overpriced and while it could be a good investment for someone planning to constantly use the device, it’s way too expensive for the mass market.

EA Games Announces Need For Speed: The Run

I’ve never been a fan of the Burnout series but have heard many gamers say it was good. I have, however, been a huge fan of the Need for Speed series. While the NFS series has fluctuated in quality from game to game, it is still a series I would always give time to evaluate. I wasn’t much of a fan of the Need For Speed: Underground series. My two personal favorite games of the series were Hot Pursuit 2 (the PS2 original and the 2010 remake) and Most Wanted. Those two games brought the best cars, the best action, the best cop chases, and the coolest maps out of the entire series.
