Console-Based Battlefield 3 Available Only In 720p

PC users will rejoice when hearing this news. DICE has recently claimed that the new Battlefield 3 game (which is available for both console and PC) will only run in 720p on game consoles, at 30 frames per second.

The PC version, however, will run at 1080p at 60 frames per second. If you just bought a new graphics card for your desktop computer, you made a good choice. And, if you just got a new Xbox360, well, you’ve always got Halo to look forward to.

Oversee Desktop Performance From Your Phone

Graphics card and motherboard manufacturer, MSI, has coupled with a software programmer named Nick Connors to create a version of the Afterburner overclocking program for the Android operating system. With the awesome new app, users will be able to fine tune their processing settings on and desktop or laptop over a shared WiFi connection.

Of things that can be tweaked and tuned include; frequency, temperature, voltage, and fan speed. In order to get everything set up, the user must first install the appropriate software (Afterburner program) on the host PC before anything can be modified.

AMD 9-Series Motherboard Goes Live

AMD is set to launch its 9-series chipset this week, in efforts to bring next-gen technology to computer enthusiasts around the world. The new chipset was designed to complement AMD’s Scorpius desktop platform, a platform that will feature the 8-core “Zambezi” processor and support AMD Radeon HD6000 series graphics cards.

The 9-series chipset will be the first to support AMD’s AM3+ socket processors, as well as offer backwards compatibility with earlier generations.

New Eee Box Require 70% Less Energy

Asus launched its first AMD Fusion Eee boxes earlier this year at Cebit 2011, the Eee Box EB1020 and EB1021 and no, they are not routers! Both computers feature the same pre-optical drive but the EB1020 has an Ontario C-50 processor while the EB1021 has a Zacate E-350 processor. The AMD C-50 model is a 1GHz dual-core processor, has AMD’s Radeon HD 6250 graphics, 1GB of DDR3 RAM, 250GB of storage space (running at 5400 RPM) and USB 2.0.

If you’ve ever wanted a roaring computer in the form factor of a laptop, this one is for you. ORIGIN PC is introducing the EON17-S mobile gaming computer. The EON17-S has a roaring (Intel Extreme Edition Core i7-2920XM 4.0-4.5 GHz with Turbo Boost, 8MB Cache) processor.

The graphics options are plentiful. Buyers will have the option of getting a Nvidia GTX 460M, 470M, 485M, as well as an AMD HD6970M. Users can also opt to have as much as 32GB of RAM installed in the laptop.

Acer Updates Aspire One Lineup

Acer has rolled out a nice update to the Aspire One 521, the Aspire One 522. While the new name probably doesn’t shock you, hopefully the specs will. The 10-inch netbook features an AMD C-50 cpu running cool. In Acer’s efforts to keep consistent with their hardware refresh, they are also updating the Aspire One 721 model to 722 and will be shipping the 11.6″ netbook with a 1366 x 768 pixel resolution.

The 722 will feature the same 1Ghz processor as the new Aspire One 522 and will feature an AMD Radeon HD 6250 graphics chipset.

Toshiba Rolls Out Portege And Tecra Professional Notebooks

Toshiba is rolling out three new professional notebooks with Intel’s 2011 Core (Sandy Bridge) processors. The first out of the bunch is the Portege R830. This notebook gives users the option of an i3, i5, or i7 processor, faster Intel graphics, and USB 3.0 support with the option of Bluetooth 3.0. The R830 has a 13-inch display and is one inch thick.

Acer Iconia Tab W500 Coming Soon!

Acer’s new Iconia Tab W500 is looking better than ever. The tablet will run on a 10-inch display with Windows 7 OS and an AMD cpu with Radeon HD graphics. The tablet will also come with a keyboard docking station for your “laptop needs.” The W500 has already entered a pre-order phase in Germany in March and is supposed to ship on April 15th in the United States. The tablet is expected to retail for $550. Although this tablet does look nice, I am not sure that it will work optimally with Windows 7.

MSI has launched a new notebook that was designed to serve your basic computing needs. The notebook, called MSI X370 is priced at $600 and features a commendable 1.6 GHz AMD E350 Dual-Core processor and houses Windows 7 Home Premium. The machine comes equipped with 4GB of memory and a 500GB hard drive running at 7200 RPM (rotations per minute). The 13.4-inch screen holds a native resolution of 1366 x 768 and you get your standard optical drive, WiFi and 802.11n wireless card.
