Go Full Speed With Corsair Force GT SSD

While 2.5″ hard disk drives are certainly small, they aren’t always the fastest out of the bunch. If you’re looking for real speed and increased data dependability, you might want to look into solid state drives. The new Corsair Force GT is a SATA III drive that offers 550Mbps read and 5xx write speeds.

It even comes in an unusual red coating, which makes it stand out in comparison to similar drives. Although fast, the drives do not come cheap as solid-state technology remains to be ‘the latest & greatest’ in storage media.

Intel Raises Warranty On 320-Series SSD

Intel has recently announced that it would extend the limited warranty for its 320 series solid-state drives from three years to five. The company claims that this measure comes from confidence in the SSD’s reliability features and that the new policy includes customers who have already purchased 320 series solid-state drives. What’s a little strange is that the company didn’t extend the warranty with its 510-series, perhaps because it doesn’t run on the same 25 nanometer chip?

First Phase-Change Memory Cellphone

Samsung has just released the first Phase-Change memory smartphone on the mobile market. The coolest part is that it is an entry level model and it’s called the Samsung Monte GT-E2550. You can currently order the phone on Amazon’s UK website for just 40 pounds. A company called Chipworks that specializes in reverse engineering and semiconductor patents released a careful analysis of the phone.

If you’re unfamiliar with phase-change memory, it’s basically a special storage technology that combines the advantages of RAM with the non volatile aspects of flash memory. Last year, a 512Mbit manufactured version of the chip with a 65nm size was part of a multi-chip package last April.
