Yelp, Should You Follow It?

Duncan Simester posted an interesting blog from the Harvard Business Review. Simester mentions a restaurant he created six years ago with two partners, a restaurant meant to be a grab-and-go food business for more expensive clients. Simester claims that Yelp started around the same time and while he originally saw the newly found website as a blessing (being able to receive feedback and improve), he noticed that some of the comments were quite harsh.

App Alerts Customers To Unsanitary NY Restaurants

A NY student has managed to create a public service that provides timely and relevant information to users who subscribe to Foursquare. The donteat.at application was developed by Max Stoller for the NYC Big Apps competition.

The app sends a text message to the user’s phone, after checking in to a restaurant in Foursquare, to alert them to the fact that the restaurant has been flagged by the city’s health inspection office. Essentially allowing people to know that the restaurant has unsanitary or health concerns.
