Next-Gen Of PCs To Be Powered By Graphene

Technology not only advances with every second but also becomes obsolete every second. Based on current research, it appears that silicon would be out of action in near future and Graphene might take its place.

Graphene is a new substance discovered by scientists at the University of Manchester in 2004. The substance is found to have been composed of just a single layer of Carbon atoms contrary to Silicon which comprises of many layers of Carbon.

Patriot Pyro Series SATA 6 Gbps SSDs Coming Soon

Just 2 weeks after Patriot launched the Wildfire SSDs, it declared to launch an impressive high performance solid state drive series known as Patriot Pyro Series.

The key features of this amazing drive is the SandForce SF-2281 Processor and SATA 3 6Gbps connection interface. In addition, it features TRIM command support alongwith DuraClass and DuraWrite for exceptional performance. It also has the RAISE(Redundant Array of Independent Silicon Elements) and a is protected by ECC(Error Checking and Correction) support.

Tiny Camera That Could Revolutionize Surgery

A microscopic ‘pinhead’ camera has been developed that costs pennies to make and could have a host of applications, from surgery to robotics.

The device is small enough to fit on the head of a pin and contains no lenses or moving parts. It is created from pieces of silicon doped to make them sensitive to light at different angles.

Apple’s A5 Beats Nvidia’s Tegra 2 Chip

A recent slew of results have shown that Apple’s A5 chip slaughters the Nvidia Tegra 2 silicon when it comes to graphics. Apple claims that the A5 silicon is twice as fast than the previous generation with nine times better graphics. According to Tiernan Ray from Barron’s, Apple’s chip is two and half times larger than Nvidia’s. He goes on to say that the A5 measures 122 square millimeters versus 49 square millimeters for the Tegra 2 chip.

Now, the Tegra 2 chip is manufactured on a 40 nanometer process while the A5 is on a Samsung 45 nanometer process, making Apple’s chip physically larger. Although both chips run on ARM-designed Cortex-A9 processing cores, the Tegra 2 uses Nvidia’s GeForce tetechnologies rather than…

Google Invests $5 Million In Solar Technology

It has been reported that Google spent $5 million on a 18.7MW solar power plant near Berlin, Germany. Google partnered up with a private German company called Capital stage and will only have 49% of the stake. The solar plant is 116 acres and is designed to provide clean energy to over 5,000 households in the area. Google has backed renewable energy projects for a number of years but this is the first time they have branched out of the country.

Intel’s New SSD Lineup

Intel’s last Solid-State Drive release with the 510 series 6Gbps didn’t use Intel controllers. Instead, they used a Marvell 88SS9174-BKK2 6Gbps controller. Although they didn’t use an Intel controller, their SSDs were blazing fast with speeds of up to 500MB/sec and write speeds of up to 315MB/sec.

Intel has announced today that they will be releasing their 3rd generation Intel 310 Series with 25nm of NAND flash memory. The only drawback is that…
