Apple Responds To Lodsys’s Lawsuit Threats

After waiting two weeks for a reply Apple has finally came back with a response for the threats against small app developers made by Lodsys. Lodsys is a small Texas company that it claims cover in-app purchasing. A letter was sent by Apple GC Bruce Sewell that says the app makers are already covered by the license Apple has taken to the four Lodsys patents.

Apple Proposes New Sim Card

A spokesperson from ETSI, European telecoms standards body, has confirmed that Apple has submitted a proposal for a new standardized SIM card. The new SIM card will be smaller than the ones of those in the current iPhone4 and iPad.

“We were quite happy to see last week that Apple has submitted a new requirement to ETSI for a smaller SIM form factor — smaller than the one that goes in iPhone 4 and iPad,” said Anne Bouverot, Orange’s head of mobile services.

Wi-Fi Introduces New Program, Streamlines Hotspots

Today the Wi-Fi Alliance announced a new program, intending to streamline connection to public hotspots. This new certification will also improve the relationship between Wi-Fi and cellular data, which are now in contact more than ever due to smartphones and tablets. This will include data to be transfered via either network in case of extreme data congestion.
