New Cloudbox From Lacie Keeps Your Data Safe

LaCie now has a new cloud storage system called the CloudBox that is essentially a hard drive that backs up your files both locally and wireless to a cloud-based platform. When it comes to data protection, you’re always going to want to have a backup in case there are technical difficulties over the cloud (on the web).

For $200 a year, users will get 100GB of cloud data storage. The device itself costs $200 and the first year of storage is free. Users can then opt to either renew the contract or drop the cloud service.

Australian Web Host Hacked- 4,800 Sites Unrecoverable

It doesn’t take very long before we hear about a new hack that has occurred and it looks like LulzSec isn’t the only one causing mayhem on the Interwebz. According to siliconfilter, Australian domain registrar and web host Distribute.IT was the victim of a “deliberate, premeditated, and targeted attack” on its services.

The hackers managed to destroy so much information that 4,800 websites that relied upon Distribute.IT’s servers are now unrecoverable. Just like that, all uploaded website data (coding, comments, blogs, users, forums,) gone.

NetSuite Targets Big Business With NetSuite Unlimited

The On-demand ERP software vendor, NetSuite is expected to announce a new initiative that will focus on large enterprises at SuiteWorld today in San Francisco. The initiative is called NetSuite Unlimited and the announcement won’t be focused on a specific product, but rather a combination of partnerships, services, applications, and tech improvements designed to meet the demands of the world’s largest companies.

Office 365 Already Receiving Problems

Since the recent transition to Office 365, Microsoft has stated that the service has had tough times providing access for its small business users. Product manager Steve Brown wrote in a blog, “This past week some Office Live Small Business customers may have experienced intermittent access to their accounts and Web sites…The issue has been resolved and the service is now functioning normally. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.”

LiquidSpace Raises 3.6M In First Round Of Funding

LiquidSpace has just announced that it has raised 3.6 million dollars in its first round of funding. LiquidSpace offers a mobile application that allows mobile workers connect with workspaces. The app is aimed at both workers who do not have an office and those who have one but enjoy spending a lot of time away from it. Many employees can be as productive at a coffeeshop as they can at their actual desk.

Google Apps Charges Businesses Over 10 Users

Google is changing the way it’s doing business under the rule of Larry Page, and it wants you to open up your wallets. Google will now be charging for Google Apps for Business to make it more attractive to small businesses, charging a $5 per user, per month plan that is comparable to Microsoft’s pricing plan. Google also lowered its paid service entry level from shops with 50 users to 10, in an effort to attract more of the small business ‘market’.
