Will Google Adopt Hashtags? The Answer May Be ‘Yes’

If you’re unfamiliar with the word ‘hashtag’, it’s basically just the pound sign on a numeric keypad and is used in some social media services such as Twitter as a type of keyword that users can search when they are interested in a specific topic.

Thus a user would type ‘#computers’ to find the most recent tweets that were tagged with #computers. While the use of hashtags didn’t from from Google itself, we do know that Google is interested in sorting.

LEAKED: Facebook’s New Photo Sharing App

Facebook is expected to launch it sown iPhone photo-sharing service that will go head to head with Instragram and Path. 50MB of data has already been gathered about Facebook’s project, including documents and images of the work in progress.

The service is called WithPeople or Hovertown, internally, and people believe that it will be launched as a built-in feature to its existing Facebook iPhone app or as a separate application, altogether.

Trillian Pro Will Be Free For All Platforms

Trillian has just announced that they will include all Trillian Pro features across all devices (mobile and desktop) for free, with advertisements. My only guess on the move was that Cerulean Studios (the parent company of Trillian) wasn’t making enough money on the Pro accounts and thus decided to leak the upgrade for free, on the condition that consumers would view a couple advertisements in exchange.

Facebook Launches Deals On Facebook

Facebook launched a service a few months ago called Check-In Deals. Check-In Deals allowed consumers to get special offers when they checked in at local business from their mobile phones. Today, Facebook is bringing social to a whole new level by bringing Deals on Facebook. Since the service is brand new, deals will originally be available only to people in Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, San Diego, and San Francisco with hopes to expand to other major cities in the future.
