Apple’s Grand Central Store Gets Approval

Apple has just won its bid to takeover a 23,000 sq. ft space in Grand Central Station for a new Apple store in New York City. The company agreed to a ten year lease at $800,000 a year, and the store is expected to be one of Apple’s largest and most grandiose stores yet.

The company sent their bid in a few weeks back to the owners of Grand Central Station, the MTA (Metropolitan Transit Authority), and Apple will send in their blueprints in the coming weeks.

Save Time When Buying Apps With Password Pilot

Since buying stuff online is a risky process, online stores usually have your account setup with a password with which you can access the online material and save you the peril of losing important information or data. Apple also followed the same procedure where you only had to put in your password once, saving the trouble of punching the password again for next 15 minutes.

This was only until some lawsuits were filed against Apple. Apple, fearing an FCC investigation changed the method leaving users to enter password for every download. This sometimes becomes very troublesome for frequent downloaders who get lots of stuff.

Redbox Will Soon Carry Videogames In Over 21,000 Locations

Redbox is a popular DVD rental kiosk that is found in many grocery stores. Users walk up to the big red machine and select from a list of popular movies and new releases. Consumers pay one or two dollars, and have a DVD vended out to them. Everything is done electronically of course, and the machines accept multiple forms of payment. To return the movie, customers simply scan the receipt and/or DVD and are merrily on their way.

New Google Video-On-Demand Service Arriving Next Week!

What do you think about Netflix? I’ve used Netflix on and off for a number of years but have never been that thrilled with the service. I will admit that it is cool to be able to rent older classics or new releases that you may have not had the time to see in the theaters, but overall I wasn’t very impressed. The fact that you have to remember to log on to check if the DVD is already out was a bit of a hassle for me. Because I have better things to do, I would not login to check frequently enough and forget which movies to “look out for”, thus never renting the release. I guess you could call me lazy for not writing down the movies on a list and diligently checking, but I am sure I am not the only lazy person out there.

Microsoft Opens Second Apple Style Store in California

Microsoft opened its second retail store in Orange County California and hundreds show up to see the latest gadgets, software and products. The move is an indication that Microsoft is following Apple’s footstep by taking their approach to the stores concept.

Microsoft already sells its products thru other retailers like Best Buy but this allows them to compete directly with Apple in busy malls.
