Apple Breaks Ties With Foxconn For iPad 3

Did you know that your favorite iPhone and iPad devices were all manufactured in China? For those of you who knew it, they won’t be produced any more in China. Foxconn was the company responsible for producing the majority of the i-devices. But it looks like Foxconn is out of play now.

Reports suggest that Apple has cancelled the iPad 3 manufacturing contract with Foxconn and is most probably opting for a Taiwanese company, Pegatron. Recently, Pegatron stated that they had received a contract for manufacturing 15 million iPhone units.

Chinese Bus Stops Get Solar Power!

Japan is looking to pass a ruling that will have solar panels on all new buildings and houses by 2030. A recent report showed that 14 bus stops in China had solar panels installed on them. Each bus stop will feature five solar panels, with the power of delivering 800 watts of electricity on a sunny day.

I am not well-versed in solar technology but hope that solar panels can be safely disposed of without harming the environment.

Full Details On Motorola Droid 3

We’ve covered the Droid 3 after we caught some leaked photos on the Internet. The device will carry a 4″ qHD display, and as we have previously seen from the photos, a full QWERTY keyboard. Now, the slide-out keyboard doesn’t feature Island keys like the HTC G2, so you may encounter a number of typos here and there, especially if you are texting in a rush.

HP’s Nova Dartfish In The Works

Hewlett-Packard has said in the past that its Mobile WebOS platform could be used on platforms other than smartphones and tablets. With this information in mind, HP is creating a new device that will essentially be a laptop running the mobile OS. The screen resolution will be a meager 1024 x 768 pixel resolution, identical to the HP TouchPad and have full support for WiFi, Bluetooth, and a non-swappable battery.

Two New HTC Leaks: Eternity + Omega

We’ve probably covered over ten new HTC leaks in the past month, but here are two more. HTC is supposedly working on two new Windows Phone 7 handsets, both running the new Mango update. The HTC Eternity will be a higher end device while the HTC Omega will be more of an entry-level Android phone. The Eternity will feature AMOLED screen technology, giving it the beautiful display to complement powerful hardware. The Eternity is expected to have a wide-angle 8MP camera with LED flash.

Don’t Let Your Earphones Hurt You

According to CrunchGear, one of the problems of in-ear headphones is that although they offer sharp sound, they also block all movement of air inside the air canal which is necessary to control the sound environment, but may also be fatiguing and damaging to your eardrum. Fortunately, an audio researcher named Stephen Ambrose has found a way to both improve the sound quality while still protecting the ears.

Dell Bounces Back In Profits

I was watching Dell’s stock closely last year and they weren’t doing too good. The company hung around $12 a share for the majority of Q4 last year. The company is really picking up now. Dell has just issued a statement that it has made a net income of $945M pr 49 cents a share which is quite a leap from $341M or 17 cents a share earlier in the year. The CEO and chairman of Dell, Michael Dell, claimed that the company was off to a solid start for the fiscal year of 2012 and that the substantial profit increase demonstrates that Dell’s strategy is working and the execution is improving.

Chrome OS R12 Just Released

Google has just released an updated version of Chrome OS beta. Chrome OS Revision 12 will most likely be the version sent out with the very first chromebooks from both Acer and Samsung. Some existing bugs include issues with 3G activation, the chat window, and the Angry Birds game. The 12th revision isn’t all bad though as it fixes many security issues with a revamped Adobe Flash, integrated file browser, improvements for video chat, trackpad sensitivity, and wireless connections.

Toshiba Beats Apple’s Retina Display, By Miles

Okay, so Apple Shmapple, you’ve heard all the talks about iPhone’s technology and why you should get it. One of the iPhone’s coolest features, at least in my opinion, is its retina display. Although I am a bit of a pixel fanatic, it’s time to look our eyes away from Apple and towards technology of the future. Samsung introduced a highly dense pixel resolution just last week, and Toshiba is keeping up the paces.

Toshiba has just come forth with a new four inch display that will be used in smartphones. The 4-inch screen will feature a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, allowing it to display HD video in 720p.
