MacBook Air Gets Thunderbolt & More!

It looks like those leaked photos we posted yesterday, did offer a shred of evidence about a MacBook Air upgrade.

Not only will the new MacBook Airs carry the latest Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors but both will support the razor fast Thunderbolt technology, capable of data transfers as fast as 10Gbps.

Intels Buys Fulcrum Microsystems To Boost Networking

Intel is acquiring Fulcrum Microsystems (a networking chip company) for an unknown amount of money. The buyout is expected to be the result of Intel’s efforts to boost current network offerings.

Fulcrum was founded in 1999 and they currently design Ethernet switches that are used in data centers. Fulcrum’s 10GB Ethernet and 40GB Ethernet switch products are expected to work well with Intel processors and Ethernet controller offerings.

LG Slide Concept Phone With Rollout Tablet Screen

Jason Betty designed the LG Slide Phone as a concept design that basically combines your small cell phone with a larger sized netbook computer. Although this has done before, I have to admit that this concept looks a lot cooler than what we have seen in the past.

The LG Slide phone is not only sleek and lightweight, but it’s so thin it can fit in an ordinary wallet. If this concept ever made it to production, it would allow users to seamlessly use and send documents that have already been stored to their cellphone, but with the ability to roll out a paper thin keyboard.

Apple Leak: Cinema Displays Will Have Thunderbolt

Ooops! It looks like some promotional images for Apple’s new LED Cinema display may have ‘accidentally’ leaked on the Internet, and MacRumours was able to get a couple snapshots before Apple took the images down.

The first image shows two Cinema Displays that are both hooked up to a MacBook Pro, indicating that the latest 27″ screens will support Thunderbolt. If you haven’t yet heard of Thunderbolt, it’s a means to transfer data at blazing speeds of 10Gbps.

iOS 4.3.4 Gets Jailbroken, Despite Recent Update

Just last week, we wrote about Apple’s upcoming iOS 4.3.4 and how it would prevent people from jailbreaking their devices.

Well, it looks like the iPhone can still be hacked, at least to an extent. In order to continue using your jailbroken phone or iPad, simply keep the unit hooked up to your PC via the sync cable and you’ll be able to continue using your machine.

Of course, the whole purpose between jailbreaking a portable device is so you can stay mobile (not tethered to your desktop PC all day). The security update also patched an integer overflow-related bug, an incomplete code signing issue.

Will Google Adopt Hashtags? The Answer May Be ‘Yes’

If you’re unfamiliar with the word ‘hashtag’, it’s basically just the pound sign on a numeric keypad and is used in some social media services such as Twitter as a type of keyword that users can search when they are interested in a specific topic.

Thus a user would type ‘#computers’ to find the most recent tweets that were tagged with #computers. While the use of hashtags didn’t from from Google itself, we do know that Google is interested in sorting.

Research Breakthrough: Time Cloak Is Created

A group of physicists have recently created a time cloak that is able to hide an event from time itself. One of the researchers had a breakthrough, at Cornell University. The researcher, Moti Friedman led the pack.

The cloak works in part of a duality between space and time in electromagnetic theory, and although the explanation is rather long winded, I am going to try to give the basics in a digestible format.

LEAK: Samsung Admire For MetroPCS W/ Gingerbread

Although we usually do not get good leaked photos, it looks like the person who took this photo wanted people to ADMIRE the entire package, rather than just the name.

The new Samsung Admire is an Android Gingerbread phone available exclusively for MetroPCS. Featuring an 800MHz processor and a 3.5″ display, this looks like one of the nicest phones you can get on the MetroPCS network.
