Police Arrest Teen From Lulz Security

UK Police arrested a 19 year old yesterday involved in the anonymous hacking group, LulzSecurity. The boy was caught after performing a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack. The Metropolitan Police Central e-Crime Unit said the boy was detained for attacks against a number of International business and intelligence agencies.

The arrest was carried out through a pre-planned, intelligence led operation, according to authorities. The hacking group took credit for attacks against SOCA (Serious Organized Crime Agency), when they tweeted “Tango down — soca.gov.uk –in the name of #AntiSec.”

Chinese Hackers Spoof Gmail To Target Gov’t Officials

Google has recently caught a series of phishing attempts targeted at United States and South Korean government officials. The attacks originated from Jinan, China and attempted to gain access to Gmail accounts of hundreds of users by tricking them into sharing their passwords. Chinese political activists, military personnel, and journalists were also victimized.

The attackers were seeking to monitor their victims’ e-mail accounts by changing the account settings to automatically forward messages. The attempts actually started in February and have been since ongoing.

US Intelligence Scans Bin Laden’s PCs

After Operation Geronimo occurred on Monday morning, Osama Bin Laden was killed from several gunshot wounds to the head and chest. As people watched the video live from video cameras mounted on Special Forces helmets, many were pleased that the Al-Qaeda leader had gotten what was coming to him, even if it took ten years.

Samsung Receives Bomb Scare After Bin Laden’s Death

Shortly after the main news stations had reported on the death of Bin Laden, Samsung Electronics received a bomb threat. The threat was made to the main branch of Samsung in Seoul, Korea. Interestingly enough, the Canadian division of Samsung also received a similar threat. The threat to Samsung in Korea also threatened other targets around Seoul. The targets listed in the the threat were embassies of Turkey, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Oman, Bahrain, Jordan, Syria and Egypt. All the embassies immediately raised security according to reports.
