Android Ice Cream Sandwich Will Require TI Processor?

The new Nexus Prime phone is touted to not only run on the new Android Ice Cream Sandwich, but will also be fueled by a Texas Instruments OMAP 4 processor. Whether this will be the new standard for Ice Cream Sandwich remains a mystery, but it leaves some people guessing.

Another possibility, is that we are overanalyzing Google’s ties with Texas Instruments, and that an Nvidia Tegra 3 processor will suit it fine. If Ice Cream is to Gingerbread what Gingerbread is to Froyo, there won’t really be a need for a killer processor.

If you consider yourself an expert in multi-tasking, you’re going to want to take a look at this. Imerj has just demonstrates a unique foldable smartphone that opens up to reveal two 4″ WVGA Super AMOLED displays, bound together like a small pocket dictionary (just a bit more fun, though!)

The device is run by a Texas Instruments processor, equipped with a full gigabyte of DDR3 (Double Data Rate 3) memory and offers up between 32GB and a whopping 128GB of internal storage.

Texas Instruments Introduces OMAP4470, Not a Robot

Texas Instruments has just announced another member of the OMAP 4 family, and it’s a boy! Meet the OMAP4470, a 1.8GHz ARM processor. The new chip is powered by two 1GHz ARM Cortex A-9 MPCore engines, and two 266MHz ARM Cortex-M3 cores.

Texas Instruments believes that the multi-core structure will allow for faster web browsing and more efficient power usage. The goal is to compete with Nvidia’s quad core chips and Intel’s latest Sandy Bridge line. While some may think this goal is a bit far fetched, you have to commend Texas Instruments for having such a goal!

Intel demonstrated a focused on camera that recognizes both facial and gesture input at Intel Developer Forum, Beijing 2011. The demo begun by showing an avatar being controlled by having the camera map on the user’s face. This mapping allowed the user to control the avatar’s head movements as well as the facial features, enabling the avatar to laugh, smile, frown, or look confused.

The gesture recognition allows users to control and navigate the user interface with the wave of a hand. This hand waving allows photos to move from right to left, zoom in and out and rotate pictures in clockwise or counterclockwise directions.
