Leak: Sony Going Deep With Virtual Reality

Hopefully the days of a silly console controller are over. I’ve said it before, but I am getting tired of playing console games with the dual joy-stick. Sure, it was awesome in 2002, but times are changing and we are living in a world where we want to interact more with our media.

Think about how Google+ has their hangouts, a rich way to communicate with one another via videochat, and how about the new Wii U and the touch-screen controller? The Xbox Kinect? The more you think about it, the clearer it becomes- the concept of fun is being defined by how much we can do with our gadgets, and Sony might be catching on.

Motorola Droid 3, Google’s Best Ever?

‘Droid’ is actually codename for reliability, raison d’être being uncomplicated, the palpable track record of Droid manufacturers and the Motorola Droid 3 is no exemption.

Arriving to the market recently, it has been awarded 4 out of 5 stars from Verizon subscribers via feedback on their site. Priced pretty reasonably at Amazon, it starts at only $70 along with a free $15 Amazon credit!

Meet Microsoft’s Surface, Shipping This Fall

We covered a multimedia table from Pioneer just a week ago, and it looks like Microsoft and Samsung were working on a multimedia table of their own.

I have to say, this one is WAY more stylish and is something I would actually want in my home. Microsoft has just demonstrated its new Samsung SUR40 (Microsoft Surface) today in Singapore and announced that it will begin shipping to the Singapore market for around $8,600.

Does The iTouch Finally Have Some Competition?

Galaxy and Apple face off once again. This time it is not the tablets. The iTouch has been about four years since the iTouch has come out and it just now got its first competitor. Its the Samsung’s Galaxy Player. It was noted to be up on amazon for pre-order for $229.99.
However, the link that was reported to be on amazon is no longer there , so maybe the product has been taken down. It is probably going to be back up on amazon pretty soon, until then not that many people have been able to get an anxious and long waited glimpse of the the only iTouch competitor.

Is The Kindle Going Touch Screen?

The new Trend is touch screen, but many people love the easy accessible Kindle. Its so easy on the eyes and it is the first pick for people who do not favor touch screens and want a simple device for just reading. The Kindle is so easily accessible that a 12-year-old or even an 80-year-old can use it.

A lot of people are afraid to move up with technology and the Kindle provides a comfortable ground for them. Buttons are more familiar to people as a whole and the touch screen feature is something not all people are ready to adapt to quite yet.

To find out there is a side by side test in the video below of one side featuring the iPad and the other side featuring the Galaxy.

Windows 8 Test Version Released

Microsoft has just shipped a test version of Windows 8 to PC makers, so based on the timeframe of past releases it should be available to users in late 2012. This version is reportedly being offered through Microsoft Connect, a program for extra-special beta testers. Windows 8 is important for Microsoft because it will be the first version of Windows with special features for tablets, such as compatibility with ARM processors, and a design with touch screens in mind.

Distressing to Microsoft–and fueling its tablet affinity–is the fact that Apple’s iPad is overtaking sales of consumer notebooks running Windows. However, Microsoft seems in no huge hurry to break out any tablets, despite the increasingly crowded market.

Sources say Microsoft is expected to show the first beta of the OS at its Professional Developers’ Conference, set to take place later this year. Similar test versions in the past have had security measures to prevent leaks, such as a one-time use password. However, we should never underestimate the ingenuity of nosy geeks, so I’ll be holding out for some leaks.

A Glimpse of The Future – Very Interactive

Corning has released a six minute video that provides a glimpse of what the future will be like. Apparently it’s very interactive and filled with touch sensitive, electronically enabled display glass that turn household items like bathroom mirrors, refrigerator doors and counter tops — into interactive surfaces similar to the screens on tablets and phones.

It wants to put these touch screens in vehicle displays and integrate it into their designs, plus use large display for videoconferencing and business collaboration from any where. For example, you could send an e-mail from your bathroom mirror — or any similar surface in your home.
