Our tech giants Google and Microsoft has taken the patent war to next level and Twitter is the new war zone. Recently, Microsoft, along with Apple and Oracle collectively bought some 6,000 patents from Nortel inc.

In the mean time, Google bought around 1,000 patents from IBM. Microsoft, Apple and Oracle in a group known as CPTN paid $3.5 billion more than the predicted price for buying the patents.

Looks like to many social networking websites, iPad is a thing they sure have to adapt to. With a brand name like Apple, it’s no wonder they get all the street cred.

Although there had been applications for using both Twitter and Facebook on the iPad, neither of these social networking behemoths were satisfied with their performance. Therefore, Facebook started Project Spartan, an effort to develop a separate HTML5 based Facebook page for the iPad.

In some social news, Twitter is teaming up with Brainloop, to better safeguard peoples information on the social platform and helping ensure that confidential documents, stay confidential.

What the German company, Brainloop offers, is a way to help companies keep their docs safe from hackers, and more importantly- from top secret information getting leaked all over the web.

Apple has recently seeded the beta version of its newest operating system iOS 5 to developers. iOS 5 is currently not available to normal users as it is in a testing phase.

For the first time Apple has introduced the feature of updating the OS over a wireless network without hooking the device up to a PC for downloading.

For this, the user will need to first download the new operating system to the device utilizing 3G or WIFI connectivity. Updating the software by this method would not download the full operating system which requires the download of about 700 MB chunk of data.

Google is keenly interested in upgrading its current projects and adding new and exciting features to them. Recently, Google bought Fridge, a social networking firm. Now Google has acquired PittPatt(Pittsburg Pattern Recognition), a face recognition software company.

Google+ circles is an adorable feature for privacy concerned folks allowing others only to see what they want them to. Now the latest buzz is that this feature is getting even better.

Fridge is a web-suite which provided the facility of creating separate groups for friends, sharing stuff and planning events much alike other social networking sites. But the new thing is, Google is procuring Fridge.

It’s North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) this time that the Online ‘Hacktivist’ gathering, Anonymous, targeted and breached their database successfully, claiming a Gigabit of data.

Anon admitted that on Twitter, saying that they gained a huge amount of restricted data and might make it public in few days.

Google+ caught the eye of the world even when the project wasn’t complete. Even though the users were limited to around 750 million, people wanted it like crazy.

Is Google’s social networking service better than its competitors? Or Do people want a change from their old social networks? The answer lies in the latter one. With Google+, users are getting the change they want.

Google recently declared that it is planning on shuttering its Labs department since Google is into such a broad range of products.

Google explained the reason to be spotlighting and prioritizing the products more and winding down Google Labs is a step to keep the process rolling.

I guess LulzSec never really resigned, and the whole thing was just a way to engage in a cooldown period and get the FBI off their backs (at least a little bit). Then again, members of LulzSec are known to go rogue and just do their own thing.

Rather than simply taking down a website, they decided to post a fake Times newspaper page that masqueraded as the Sun. Following the attack, the hackers tweeted “We have joy we have fun we will mess up Murdoch’s Sun: http://t.co/JArvwg1 | Hi Rupert! Have fun tomorrow at the Parliament! #AntiSec”
