ISPs To Punish Illegal Downloaders

Are you one of those people who would rather risk stiff fines and possible jail time than spending money on any digital content? If you have Comcast, AT&T, or Verizon here is your warning that they plan to start cracking down even more if you are caught sharing illegal files.

These ISPs have been working on an agreement with media companies more closely with piracy. Rather than just receiving a warning in the mail you could receive throttled bandwidth or limited access to the Internet.

Electronics manufacturer, Acer, has announced today that their new laptops will have one-touch keys that will give consumers a one-touch access to Facebook, Youtube, and Twitter. Researchers monitoring brain activity can now determine what action a person is planning before he carries it out.

Although it is currently only possible to know what someone is going to do just moments before it happens, the implications of the breakthrough are huge. Police, for example, would love to know what a criminal is intending to do during a tense armed stand-off.

eBay said this morning that it is acquiring Zong, a venture-backed mobile payments provider, for about $240 million in cash.

Zong works with more than 250 mobile network operators worldwide, offering localised payment services on a user’s mobile phone or PC through their carrier billing. Consumers have to enter their mobile phone numbers and then, in a matter of seconds, Zong verifies that number and clears the payment on the customer’s existing wireless service account.

Facebook To Fail Google Plus With Skype Video Chat

Facebook’s video chat feature has finally been launched, revealing what many technology blogs had already predicted: video chat is now available on the service and is powered by the hugely popular Skype.

The bond between Skype and Facebook has grown stronger since Microsoft acquired Skype a month ago — not to mention that Microsoft has a small stake in Facebook.

Cisco Brings High Speed WiFi To Stadiums

Cisco has just announced a new WiFi access point and stadium antenna that covers smaller areas, perfect for use in arenas to give consumers improved access and wireless speeds. Research shows that although people don’t pull a lot of web data when they are, say, watching ‘the big game’, they transmit a heck of a lot of data to the outside world.

This says a lot about the needs of human interaction and remaining part of our social networks even when our friends cannot join us for a day out, watching the ball game.
