Spotify, a Swedish DRM-based music streaming service includes both major labels such as Sony, EMI, and Universal, and independent labels. The startup was launched in October of 2008, and I am please to announce that the service will soon be available to U.S. customers.

The announcement was actually made earlier in the month when Spotify had confirmed that it would come to the U.S., although it had not provided a specific launch date.

New Google Video-On-Demand Service Arriving Next Week!

What do you think about Netflix? I’ve used Netflix on and off for a number of years but have never been that thrilled with the service. I will admit that it is cool to be able to rent older classics or new releases that you may have not had the time to see in the theaters, but overall I wasn’t very impressed. The fact that you have to remember to log on to check if the DVD is already out was a bit of a hassle for me. Because I have better things to do, I would not login to check frequently enough and forget which movies to “look out for”, thus never renting the release. I guess you could call me lazy for not writing down the movies on a list and diligently checking, but I am sure I am not the only lazy person out there.
