Microsoft Signs Android Patent Deal With Wistron

Microsoft announced the fourth patent-licensing deal in two weeks with a maker of Android devices, announcement timed perhaps to suggest that it has some momentum for its claims that Google’s mobile operating system violates Microsoft’s patents.

Wistron Corp, a spinoff of Acer, is the latest company to make an agreement with Microsoft in a string of lawsuits and royalty clashes that’s spanned the course of two months.

Samsung Galaxy S II On Windows Platform ?

The Samsung Galaxy S2 is easily one of the best Android smartphones out there right now. So you can imagine our excitement when we heard that Samsung might be working on a Windows Phone 7-version of the super-slim beast.

The Bluetooth SIG board, which tests new phones using the wireless specification before release, has seen the Samsung SGH-i937 pass through its labs, similar to the Samsung SGH-i927 (The Galaxy S2) and the Samsung SGH-i937 (also known as the Windows Phone 7-powered Focus).

Phone Rivals Gang Up, Outbid Google

Bankrupt telecom firm Nortel has finally flogged its hotly contested portfolio of mobile patents to Microsoft and Apple for $4.5 billion, leaving Google’s mobile mad men and Android architects royally miffed.

According to BBC News, a consortium of six firms led by Apple and Microsoft spent billions on the patents, amid fears that Mountain View could establish a monopoly on mobile if it secured the bankrupt comms firm’s patent portfolio with its opening bid of $900 million.
