Intel Cloud In A Box – World’s Smallest Cloud Data Center

Billing it as “the world’s smallest data center”, Intel’s cloud technology demonstrator is basically two 1U servers in a package that fits into a common rolling suitcase.

Designed to show that Intel is already powering the cloud with its Xeon processors, the technology demonstration is also meant to highlight Intel’s other efforts to bring their Cloud 2015 vision to reality.

IBM HPC Cloud Solutions For Maximizing Profits

IBM seeks to help companies use their high-performance computers more efficiently with new software that links separate pools of resources into a single private cloud. Usually, organizations with intense engineering operations have separate server farms used by individual groups of engineers, leaving computing resources unused.

With this in mind, IBM is currently making HPC Management Suite for Cloud software available after having just used it internally. Over 3,000 engineers around the world shared resources as they developed the POWER7 processor family, claiming to have cut costs in half and reduced the design cycle by six months as a result of the software.

Intel– No Longer Producing Itanium Chips

Itanium-based servers are commonly used by IT professionals in the industry. Intel’s latest Itanium 9300 series packs a punch, delivering double the performance that you would get with the previous generation. It also handles six times more memory bandwidth and up to nine times more interconnect bandwidth. To continue, the Itanium can carry eight times more memory than the older version. It is designed for information specialists to have energy-efficient technology at their fingertips, and serves are the driving force for their data centers and workload management.
